ERP BI Solutions for xTuple and PostBooks Sales provides an open source BI solution  with measurements and key Performance Indicators specific to sales order management.  The solution is built on the open source Pentaho community edition.

The solution provides extract, transform and load processes to load a data mart designed for sales analysis.  It provides dashboards giving an overview of important sales performance measures and pivot tables to view data from different perspectives.  You can also use ad-hoc analysis tools to explore sales data.

flowETL Processes
ETL processes extract your ERP operational data and load a data mart that is structured for fast analysis by different dimensions.  The ETL processes are developed using a graphical tool that allows you to connect extract, transform and load steps into flows as in the diagram below.


The processes can extract data based on a date range to initially load the data mart.  The processes can also extract updates to ERP data to incrementally load updates into the data mart.

Data Mart
The data mart is a set of relational tables and OLAP cubes organized for sales analysis.  The data mart is organized into three subject areas:

Order PerformanceOrder analysis by important dimensions down to the order line item level.

Delivery & Profit Performance. Delivery analysis by important dimensions down to the delivery line item level.  Also, costs are recorded at delivery allowing profit analysis.

Order Fulfillment Performance.  “Unfulfilled” orders by period analysis by important dimensions.  This records the status of all unfulfilled (outstanding) orders by period.  So we can see over time how long it is taking us to complete orders and the value of the orders.

A Sales Overview Dashboard provides a summary of the three subject areas.  For each subject the following is provided:  the key fact by period, the key performance indicator and a top list of customers.  You can filter the results based on values of dimensions: year, period, customer, product code, etc.

salesOYou can navigate to other dashboards or pivot tables using the explorer on the left side of the dashboard.  You can also drill down to detail by selecting the chart, dial or list.  For example, if you want to see more detail behind the Order Percent Change you can drill down to a KPI dashboard.

The KPI dashboards allow you to explore each KPI and fact in each of the subject areas.  For each KPI you can see performance for the last 12 periods and compare the previous 12 periods.  You can also see top customers, products and classes of products for the period or last 12 periods.

Dimension comparison dashboards allow you to compare the relative sizes of dimension members and compare values to the previous year.


Geospatial dashboards allow you to visualize information from the three subject areas by delivery location or billing location:
